pushing or encouraging students beyond the 'basics'

take classroom into real worldpractice areas so that they can see it/use it when they need it
anytime, any place learning
no holidays - learning over summer break
??bigger class size and smaller groups
using specialists from all over the world- not just limited to our own staff
classrooms joining with classrooms in other places eg MIT and AUT, NZ and Australia or other places in the world
Thoughts for the afternoon - Challenges of a Flexible Future amount of content expectations of students to be there filtering of information - good and reliable sources, students skills to critically appraise info managing time and self discipline - easy to not do a lot. Ensuring that the need to know is there variety of students - age, ability etc - technology competence straightjacket of the curriculum. Could be the scaffolding 24/7 7 days per week teaching- what's realistic? Students need boundaries support systems IT helpdesk 24 hours in a profession which values punctuality, professionalism, communication, collaboration
